I
carried out my Masters Thesis Work in Centre for Development of Telemetics ,
Bangalore. I was under the guidance of Mr. K.J Rajkumar , Senior Program
Manager of ISDN division. The project was a High Level design of a
Multiprotocol Line Card used in TMN (Telecom manegement Network) This page
contains more details. In a Telephone network consisting of a number of exchanges and links between them, there is a need for a centralized information system of different statistics data and this system is called as Telecom Management Network (TMN). A Multiprotocol Line card is a high-density multilayer printed circuit board, which is used in TMN server side to connect to different exchanges. The aim of the project is to make a high level design of a line card, capable of connecting to 8 different exchanges at a time and transfer data to the controller card through a HDLC (High-level Data Link Control) interface. The Multiprotocol Line Card is also called as MIL (Modem Interface Line) card. An Integrated Multiprotocol Processor (IMP) from Motorola is used for protocol processing and the overall control of the card. Thus the line card takes the HDLC data from the controller card and outputs V.90 data towards exchanges and also collects the V.90 data from the different exchanges and transmits to controller card. As the HDLC link needs clock signals the line card receives clock signals from the controller card. |
